This will be the last one for a while; I'm just getting caught up on making these posts. I grabbed a pair of Bred Spizikes in hopes that it would satisfy my desire for some Bred 4's. They did not. That said, I gave them to my nephew. And he proceeded to destroy them. He realized that he was more of a "Vans guy" and let them sit in his closet. If they are going to sit in anyone's closet, it'll be mine. I took them back (feel free to add your judgement here) to see if they could be brought back to life.
One thing I learned pretty quickly when cleaning these up is just how crappy the materials are on a Spizike. I mean they just do not age well. I've seen them on Ebay and in consignment shops and it's no wonder they sit on the shelf. They came to pass during Jordan Brand's dark period of shoddy quality retros, so I'm not surprised to make this discovery now. I decided not to go all out with the restore, because honestly, it didn't feel worth it. These will likely remain beaters, but I've got standards for my beaters! Check out out the restore below.
Work done: Deep clean, Nubuck dye and restore, toebox creases removed, toecap reglued, midsole repaint (terrible lines; likely to redo them), and some new laces.
